Honoring The Past

Mishka and I both come from very close families. Unfortunately, there are several members of our respective families (and friends who were like family) who have passed on and will be unable to join us on our special day.

It was an easy decision to make that we will honor them in different ways throughout the day. A few that come immediately to mind:
  • A reading of the names and a prayer during the intercessions.
  • A table with photographs and a thoughtful prayer print-out at the front of the church near the candles. This way people could light a candle for those who could not be there.
  • The photographs and prayer could be moved to the lobby of the hotel for people to appreciate while the reception is going on.
  • My wedding rings will be a way of honoring my mother's parents.
  • A special surprise that I cannot reveal until I'm sure it's going to happen ;).
It's unfortunate that some of the people we love will not be able to physically attend a day that is so special to both Mishka and myself. Hopefully, through the little ways we're able to remember them, they're really there in spirit.

That's what I believe anyway.
