Marriage Prep: So Far So Fun!

Mishka and I just got back from our first marriage prep meeting with our main officiant Fr. Jim. I will admit that Mishka and I were a bit nervous and unsure of what to expect. But, whatever fears we might have had were alleviated within a few minutes.
Fr. Jim had some paperwork for us to fill at so he asked Mishka and me a few general questions so that he could fill them in on his sheet. Eventually we got out of the biographical questions and into some more personal conversations about Mishka and myself. We talked about how Mishka and I fight, that we can read each other's body language well and can walk away when arguments get too heated. He asked what our strengths were as a couple and if we believed God had brought us together (our answer was of course yes <3).>

Despite the casual and social tone of the evening, I think Fr. Jim got a very good sense of who Mishka is. I've mentioned before, he's known me since I was born, so this meeting was really a chance for him to learn more about Mishka. And they got along SO well! It amazed even me. The whole experience made me even happier with him as our officiant than I was before.

We'll be meeting with our officiant three more times, the next time we will take a compatibility test which will give a print out of our strengths and possible weaknesses. I'll be interested to see if I agree with our print-out. Fr. Jim says that it's usually pretty good, though obviously it's not perfect.

I'll keep you all updated, but so far, Marriage Prep has been enjoyable rather than nerve-wracking. And you know what? It seems like, though we're young, we're coming into this pretty prepared!
