What Are You Doing New Year's Eve? - The Boys Get Ready

Ahhhh the boys. I just have to stop and say that I LOVED the groomsmen. Obviously, Groomsman A was my best friend in high school so he's obviously one of my favorite guys. He's always been there for me when I needed him. In fact, his whole family is so great his mother came out to the ceremony to take professional pictures (she's getting into professional photography as a late career change) of our wedding ceremony. They turned out so lovely, and some of her photos capture things which our main photographer did not.

But there was also Groomsman S, my BIL. He's such a reserved and sweet person- you can tell that he's the type of person who would go the extra mile for someone that they care about. And he really did a lot for the wedding of his sister's brother. Such a nice guy :).

There's also Groomsman V and Best Man S. Groomsman V is Mishka's oldest friend and Best Man S is his best friend. I didn't know the two of them very well before the wedding (we'd only hung out a few times). But the days before the wedding (remember they stayed with us before the rehearsal dinner) really showed me how awesome they were. As I said, they were helping me fold programs, they brought their cars and were driving around picking up tuxes and other wedding necessities, and one of my FAVORITE pre-wedding memories is when we stayed up until 2 in the morning playing St. Petersburg (one of Mishka and my favorite strategy games, though it's very complicated to play).

So needless to say after all that, our groomsmen were the best. Unfortunately, the title of this post is a little misleading. You see the photographers first came to photograph the girls at 1 o'clock, but they didn't have anyone leave to photograph the boys until 1:50 (with a ceremony starting at 2:30). So, you will see that the second shooter just went straight to the church and instead of getting the traditional "boys getting dressed" photos, we have the "boys at the church putting their flowers on" photos. They're still great, but just wanted to do a little disclaimer :).

The flowers were delivered right to the church, which is where GM S and GM A are standing. Don't their gold vests and ties look super handsome :-D? (Sure I'm bias, but I'm the bride so I'm allowed!)

I swear, by the end of the wedding weekend, I feel like GM V and BM S were the best of friends. Maybe because they both have personalities that can get along with Mishka, they just meshed together well.

It was also pretty clear (though I didn't post all the photos) that BM S was one of the few people in the bridal party who knew how to put a boutonniere on. There is a series of photos of him putting on almost everyone's (he's been a groomsman in other weddings). I figured this was the most important one. He took his job as BM very seriously, as you can see from the look on his face.

The groomsman boutonniere to match my bridesmaid's calla lily bouquets. And I think the gold leaves were a nice little accent.

Mishka on the phone! You might wonder who he could be calling at a time like this. Well... it's my mom. Because... well... you remember the programs we were working so hard on the night of the rehearsal that we ended up being late? One of our officiants was supposed to bring them to the church, but he forgot. So at a certain point people started asking Mishka and the other groomsmen "Where are the programs?" or "Is the wedding going to have a program?"

So Mishka (good groom that he is) got on it. He called my mom to see if the bridesmaids could bring the programs with them when they drove to the church. He then instructed his groomsmen to pass out the programs to the guests when they arrived. And then, with that emergency handled, he and BM S headed to the church's "getting ready room" to stay out of sight and to wait for the processional to begin.

Look at the handsome boys :). Look how nicely they match... and of course, there's a story to go with that. In actuality, the groomsmen AND the best man were all supposed to be in gold. Unfortunately, the tuxedo shop messed up and gave Groomsman V (that's right, not BM S), the same styling as the groom. The boys of course realize this during their getting ready time and quickly come up with a solution (or rather awesome BM S did!). He thought that since the best man and the groom were going to be seated at the altar and away from the rest of the groomsmen that it made the most sense for them to be the two in black. It would look more coordinated that way. And it absolutely looked fantastic.

So the two groomsmen switched vests and ties and everyone was happy... except. Well, you see BM S is a bit thinner than GM V. So from what I heard GM V was suffering silently during our ceremony in his super tight gold vest. So they ended up switching back right after the ceremony.

Still, I think it's awesome how well the boys handled their own little emergencies on the morning of the wedding. I didn't know about any of this until Mishka whispered the down-low to me while we were on the altar. So yay for BM S, GM V, and Mishka the groom! Without my even knowing it they helped keep my "day of the wedding" stress free. I can't thank you enough guys!!
