As you remember for my last post, the morning of the wedding was extremely busy. But once I got back from the salon everything seemed much calmer. At least in terms of "tasks to be done". In terms of energy? Not so much...
You see those faces they're making - those are laughing faces. And not quiet laughing faces. In fact, our photographer commented more than once that we were the loudest wedding he had ever photographed. But I don't consider that to be a negative. We are loud because we are happy, and there's certainly nothing wrong with my family being happy on my wedding day :).
My beautiful Maid of Honor G getting her make-up ready. If you can't guess she has her bridesmaid's dress on already underneath that button up shirt. I love the flowers in her hair which we had our florist make special as her "Maid of Honor" symbol. I'm so glad we had my mom's bathroom to work with... great lighting and lots of space!
My Aunt/Godmother D putting the finishing touches on her outfit for the wedding. You know this is the first time she had worn a dress in I don't even know how long? She wanted to make sure I knew the wedding was special to me :).
My gorgeous sisters all dressed up for my wedding!!! They look so beautiful! And if you look closely, you can see my bridesmaids gift on K & C's necks.
My SIL Katerina arrived from the hairstylist a short time later. She was ready and excited to get that dress on and join the bridal "party" ;) (pun intended). Oh yes, it really was a party. Sister C had created a "morning of" playlist that was blasting through her ipod speakers as everything was going on.
And of course, amateur photographer/bridesmaid K was there to capture it all. Our professional photographer thought she was quite funny. She was directing more shots than he was :).
But with all these pictures... you might be wondering... where is the bride? Where am I? I don't seem to be in this party room with all the giggling and laughing and changing into things. Well... really? I was trying to eat lunch.
You'll remember in my "Morning of" post I mentioned a few times that I had the intention of eating something on the morning of my wedding. You might also remember that, though my intentions were pure, I never really got around to the actual eating part... So eventually my mom came out and said "Ang, if you don't stop and eat some lunch, you're going to faint up on that altar." That finally scared me enough to get me to sit and eat.
But right as I started in on a yummy turkey sandwich, who should I see walking down the driveway but... our photographers. I decided in that moment to just lead them into my mom's bedroom where all the bridesmaids were already dressed and ready to be glamorous so that they could have some fun while I finished lunch. But the second shooter decided he still needed a picture of the bride, even if she was just eating lunch. So we ended up with this picture:
Just me, my sandwich, and my aunt D's partner Sandra who is playing a crossword puzzle and leaving me in peace. Side note: I did not end up finishing that sandwich. Time was slipping away from me and I wanted to be with my family rather than by myself in the kitchen. So I got through about half of it, and all of my Diet Coke and then headed down the hall to the "getting ready room" and into the madness!
And the first thing I saw, of course, was my mom "fixing" my Aunt D's "faux hawk". I love her face there. We're all giggling as she basically undoes all the styling that friend M had done and she just looks at us and says "What?"
Ahhh sisterly love. With a gentle "stop it and leave my hair be" hug. This was definitely one of the most priceless moments of the morning :).
Our reaction to her handiwork. The expressions of Sister K, MOH G, and myself remind me of a "hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil" statue. Well, kindof.
And of course, even though the title says "the girls get ready", my dad had to get his handsome on too! I don't know what he's laughing at in this picture, but I'm sure he had good reason to smile :).
My dad and his brother (one of his three), my Uncle(/godfather) R. Uncle R came over that morning to drop off our flower girl/junior bridesmaid and stayed to get our bridesmaids to the chapel - and help my dad get on his cufflinks of course! I loved having him there. My uncle is amazing and has always been so supportive of me, my sisters, and all my cousins. He also went shopping with all his sisters and even some of his nieces to help them pick out their dresses for the wedding. In fact, he was so helpful behind the scenes that we decided to give him an "honorary groomsmen gift" as a small thank you for everything he had done.
This is one of the pictures that surprised me when it came back. Apparently, on the morning of the wedding, my dad was still working on his wedding toast :). How sweet! (I know he was a little nervous).
My sisters, my godmother, and my junior bridesmaid, all together and looking gorgeous!!
But of course, with everyone else completely ready... it was time to don my bridal gear!
