What Are You Doing New Year's Eve? - The Processional

Before the procession began, our groomsmen (or two of them) made their way up to the altar. GM A was still in the back because he was walking my mom up the aisle and the groom and his best man were just taking their positions at the front of the church.

I was still trying to keep out of Mishka's sight as best I could. It was hard of course, and I'm sure he caught glimpses of me, but we do what we can :).

Mishka's parents went up the aisle next. I can't believe how proud Mishka's father looked. I've always admired the special relationship Mishka has with his dad and it was never more evident than on his wedding day :).

Next up were my mom and GM A. As I said, he's more than just my friend, he's a friend of the family. In fact, he's almost a member of the family, thus it seemed appropriate for him to walk my mom up the aisle. Isn't my mom's dress gorgeous?!

It was at this moment, when walking up the aisle was such an imminent reality, that I began to tear up. This is a picture of me trying to breathe and hold back my tears of excitement and happiness.

My ring bearer started off the proceedings. He was a little saddened to learn that he would not be carrying any actual rings, but we felt that was best to ensure the safety of our special rings.

Next up was our beautiful flower girl/junior bridesmaid. You might also notice that the distance between the flower girl and the ring bearer was a little wider than the space between the bridesmaids and our flower girl. I think, in the excitement of the moment (and also from the somewhat casual nature of our rehearsal the night before) people stepped out quicker than they meant to.

You can see the spaces between them get even shorter as my last two bridesmaids and my maid of honor made their way to the front as well.

And then it was my turn.

And Mishka made this face.

And everyone was looking at me.

And my dad gave me away (this is one of Mishka's favorite pictures).

And we bowed at the altar and squeezed each other's hands gently as we got a few literal steps closer towards marriage.
